Heart Notes: A Botanical Perfume Workshop

Celebrate Valentine’s Day through scent, creativity, and connection in this intimate botanical perfume-making workshop.

In the art of natural perfumery, heart notes are the emotional center of a perfume—the botanicals that bloom on the skin and shape how a scent is felt. In this special Valentine’s edition, we’ll explore heart notes both literally and experientially, learning how florals, botanicals, and natural essences influence mood, memory, and presence.

Guided through the Slow Scent® method developed by master perfumer Mandy Aftel, you’ll slow down, smell deeply, and learn how top, heart, and base notes come together to create aromatic harmony. With gentle guidance, you’ll blend a custom perfume centered around a heart note that resonates with you—soft, grounding, radiant, or comforting.

This two and a half-hour, hands-on workshop takes place inside the light-filled Hillside Glass Co. studio in downtown Mariposa and is designed for a small group of up to eight participants. No prior experience is needed—just curiosity, openness, and your senses.

You’ll leave with a 7ml custom natural perfume, crafted by hand and guided by your own intuitive response to scent—a wearable reminder of what you want to feel more of.
